Sirmione

The green water that laps the banks, ancient villages surrounded by hills, mountains dusted with snow and fresh, clear air. Sirmione is the centre of the beauties offered by Lake Garda, an enchanted, evocative place, with a wealth of colours and a magical atmosphere.

Sirmione is a tongue of land, four kilometres long, that stretches from the water of the Benaco, the ancient name of Lake Garda. Many poets and artists have sung the praises of this little town: the first lyrics about Venusta Sirmio were written by Caio Valerio Catullo, who later inspired Carducci, Fogazzaro and Joyce. Known as la perla delle isole e delle penisole (the pearl of the islands and peninsulas) Sirmione can also boast unique thermal water, known for its healing properties.

Today, the town is one of the most important tourist centres of Lake Garda because, with its numerous facilities, it can satisfy the needs of even the most demanding customers. In addition to the local beauty spots, such as the Rocca Scaligera, the Catullo Caves and Maria Callas’s house, tourists can also enjoy all the alternatives that the area offers: spas, local food and wine, culture and sports. Moreover, Sirmione has a rich program of events and festivals the whole year round.
