The facilities
Terme Virgilio
Terme Virgilio is located at the foot of the Sirmione peninsula, at Colombare and can be reached by the Brescia-Verona state highway. It is open the whole year round.
The following facilities are available at the thermal centre:
- Specialist bronchopneumological centre: this is a centre that specialises in the prevention and treatment of certain pathologies of the trachea, the bronchi and the lungs. The facility is equipped with two surgeries, equipped with diagnostic machines, 20 machines for multi-purpose inhalatory treatments and 10 pulmonary ventilators.
- Inhalant treatment department: recommended for the prevention and treatment of certain otorhinolaryngological (ear, nose and throat) and bronchopneumological (trachea, bronchi and lungs) pathologies. Treatments include the micronized nasal douche, nasal irrigation, hot-humid inhalation, humage, aerosol, sonic aerosol, ionised aerosol and nebulisation.
- Muds, baths, hydromassage and massage department: recommended for the prevention and treatment of certain rheumatic, orthopaedic, vascular and dermatological diseases.
- Gynaecological treatments department: vaginal irrigation and therapeutic baths.
During the period when Terme Catullo is closed, the Rhinogenic deafness centre and the Rhinogenic deafness treatment centre transfer to the Terme Virgilio facilities.
Terme Catullo
Terme Catullo is located in the historical centre of Sirmione and is open from April to October.
The spa centre has the following facilities:
- Rhinogenic deafness centre: this is a specialist centre for the treatment of rhinogenic deafness. It was founded in 1948 and is famous all over Europe. It was the first centre in Italy to adopt thermal therapy for treating and preventing catarrhal inflammations of the middle ear. Particularly interesting are the results obtained in cases of infantile deafness treated with micronized nasal douches, endotubaric insufflation, Politzer and inhalatory treatments. The centre is equipped with an area with various surgeries for specialist visits and a diagnostic area for audiometric and impedance metric examinations, insufflation treatments and all the various departments for inhalatory treatments. The centre also collaborates with the most important Italian University Clinics, from which many specialists come to study the benefits of thermal treatments. The centre also has a rhinogenic deafness treatment department and a department providing treatments for infantile rhinogenic deafness, both offering endotubaric insufflation treatment and Politzer crenotherapy.
- Inhalant treatment department: recommended for the prevention and treatment of certain otorhinolaryngological (ear, nose and throat) and bronchopneumological (trachea, bronchi and lungs) pathologies. Treatments include the micronized nasal douche, nasal irrigation, hot-humid inhalation, humage, aerosol, sonic aerosol, ionised aerosol, nebulization.
- Muds, baths, hydromassages, underwater massages and massages: recommended for the treatment and prevention of certain rheumatic and orthopaedic diseases and vascular and dermatological diseases.
- Thermal pool and Vascular program: recommended for rehabilitation in orthopaedic traumatology and for the prevention of rheumatic, vascular and dermatological diseases. The vascular program is effective for treating the after-effects of chronic types of phlebopathies. The thermal pool, an important facility in therapeutic treatments at the Terme, exchanges water at a constant flow.
